This wonderful song was written by my dear old friend and frequent musical compatriot Larry Heiman, copyright 1976. With a bit of editorial help, I added the last two verses as additional lyrics to prepare the song for the new arrangement and to recognize the passage of more than 40 years.

Dedicated to my mother and father, Al and Phyllis Weiner, the best parents I could have hoped for. As of this publication, dad was 95 and mom would soon be 93.

Toward the end of January, my father died. A few days later I posted the video on Facebook announcing his death. This is that post:

Early this morning my family and my friends who knew them lost my sweet father Albert Weiner. He died in relative peace with my mother sleeping right near him as always.

I posted this video before, I know. I am proud of it, but the real power of its meaning in my life came a few weeks ago when I showed it to mom and dad at the dinner table. Dad was sitting in his wheelchair and I asked mom to move her chair next to his side so they could both see it on my laptop. After they had seen 2/3 of the piece, my father, his hand trembling with Parkinson's, reached out to take hers, and their hands now trembling together, he held her hand in his lap as the video came to the end.

This moment is how I choose to encode the last days of their marvelous marriage which has lasted from March 30th, 1946. Six weeks after dad returned from 3 years at war during which mom waited and waited for his return.

I will miss him terribly. He was a beautiful man.
