I have been singing this song since I was in college. I have sung it many different ways with many different people. But, this, this is how I always imagined it might be. I have been so lucky to have had the support of Warren Kahn, engineer and producer at Banquet Recording in Sebastopol, California, Ben Weiner, my son, drums, backup vocals and backup vocal arrangement, associate producer, the fabulous Nina Gerber on guitars who gave this all that glorious color, Kai Eckhardt on bass, Julie Lester on backup vocals and those stunning high improvised descants, Shanin Jones on soul backup vocals and Larry Heiman and Michaela Hamilton Heiman on backup vocals, too.
This was one of the best things I have ever done in music, art and, especially with others. Such support and patience, such enthusiasm and, ok fine, love. Thank you all so very much
lyrics
They say everything can be replaced
They say every distance is not near
So I remember every face
Of every man who put me here
I see my light come shining
From the west down to the east
Any day now, any day now
I shall be released
They say every man needs protection
They say every man must fall
So, I swear I see my reflection
Somewhere inside these walls
I see my light come shining
From the west down to the east
Any day now, any day now
I shall be released
